Event-related states in secondary predication

چکیده
Analyses of secondary predication based on the aspectual properties predicative complements are almost standard today. This paper shows that these approaches not restrictive enough and make a large number incorrect predictions. It also meaning main (or primary) predicate is essential to restrict one. Throughout text, pragmatically analysis necessary restrictions compared with one grounded semantic paradigms, several examples proposed how latter may be articulated developed. Event-related states in shown necessary, claimed follow from series if fine-grained notions crucially related primary verb.

Secondary Predication in L2 Grammar
A persistent question in the SLA (second language acquisition) research concerns the status of the involvement of the native language (i.e. L1 transfer). Inquiry into the question has been made on the basis of a variety of linguistic frameworks, such as contrastive analysis (Lado, 1957), L2 (second language) generative parametric approach (Flynn, 1987; White, 1989; Schwartz, 1996), and the more...

The intuitive understanding of (1) seems clear, but already in English it is not clear which phenomena are to be called secondary predication in general. Things get even more difficult when other languages are considered. The problem is not merely one of the term extension. The emphasis is on the relation be...
متن کاملThe Semantics of Case in Russian Secondary Predication
Secondary predicates in Russian are in the instrumental case (INST), or they agree in case (AGR) with their controlling argument in the main clause. The selection of case morphology depends on a complex interaction of a number of factors. Here, the focus is only on semantic factors that have direct theoretical implications for the individual-level predicate (ILP) vs. stage-level predicate (SLP)...
متن کاملCognitive event-related potentials in comatose and post-comatose states.
We review the interest of cognitive event-related potentials (ERPs) in comatose, vegetative, or minimally conscious patients. Auditory cognitive ERPs are useful to investigate residual cognitive functions, such as echoic memory (MMN), acoustical and semantic discrimination (P300), and incongruent language detection (N400). While early ERPs (such as the absence of cortical responses on somatosen...
